Forrst Guidelines

Our principles for making Forrst an awesome community.

  1. Forrst is a community that fosters valuable feedback.
Here designers and developers can share with the community designs and sites that they are working on and get actionable feedback. The best posts are the ones that specify exactly the type of feedback that's being sought. Posts that lack effort or are blatantly self-promotional won't garner much attention.

  2. Please be professional. Remember — your future boss or client may be here, too!
Be kind, thoughtful and considerate in your interactions with fellow members. Remember: your future boss or client may be on Forrst, so always be on your best behavior. If you have an issue with another member, or a post or comment, please contact us at hello@forrst.com and we'll do our best to resolve it.

  3. It's important to put effort and thoughtfulness into your posts and comments.
When composing posts and comments, being detailed is important, and please put a healthy amount of effort in to your writing. If you wouldn't feel comfortable writing that way to your boss or clients, please don't write that way on Forrst. Posting extremely terse posts will likely lead to that post being moderated. Instead of posting empty comments like "good work" or "love it", consider simply liking the post instead.

  4. Screenshots should provide enough context to spark interesting discussion.
When sharing screenshots, full-sized shots are best. Teasers lacking any context, extreme crops, photos of your screen, and other such effects shouldn't be posted.

  5. Please give credit where it's due.
If sharing work that's not your own, please give credit where it's due. You'd want the same done for you.

  6. Make sure to post your job and collab posts in the right place.
Posts looking for collaboration are encouraged but must be promoted. Jobs should be posted on our jobs board.

  7. Let's all respect each other. The community will be better for it.
The Forrst Staff are here to help make the community — your community — a great place. Please be respectful of them, as they are to be respectful of you. If you have an issue with a decision we've made, please contact us privately at hello@forrst.com and we'll talk it out.

  8. Please don't post anything illegal.
While it goes without saying, illegal, offensive, racist, adult, or other questionable content does not belong here. Forrst also isn't the right place to get advice on computer hardware, barter invites to other sites, or get technical support for other web services.

  9. Please don't use flagrant language.
Along with not saying anything offensive or racist, please don't use curse words or other questionable language. Forrst has users of all-ages and we want to make sure this is a place for everyone.

  10. Focus is good! Forrst is for sharing very specific types of content.
Finally, please remember that Forrst is Forrst. It's not Flickr, deviantART, Dribbble, ThemeForest, Reddit, Twitter, etc. Content that is better suited for those sites should be posted on those sites. Focus and structure are a good thing! So, let's keep Forrst focused.

A special note about freebies: if you'd like to share freebies (like PSDs or templates) with the Forrst community, please do so in moderation. Don't just share for the sake of sharing or self-promotion.

Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or concerns you've got: hello@forrst.com.
